 When snooping kids at a school science lab discover a corpse and accidentally let it roll away, they need a replacement fast. They find one at the local hospital, but this is no ordinary corpse, this is "Bud the Chud," a cannibalistic humanoid underground dweller.

 Yes there was a C.H.U.D. II and it managed to be even cheesier than the original! I think this one was intended to be more comedy than horror, either way the result was vintage 80s cheese at it's stinkiest. Now available on Amazon Instant Video HERE. Rawhead Rex (1986)

In the 23 years of this movies existence I never saw it. In my 22 years of watching horror movies I always wanted to. I remember seeing the box art in the video stores a lot in the late 80's and early 90's and being intrigued, but for reasons unknown never asked my mom to rent it. Time passed and the movie slowly disappeared from rental places and slipped from my mind altogether. That is until about seven years ago when I was reading some stuff on Clive Barker, whose three films I adore, that I came across the info that he had written the script for a film called Rawhead Rex. It all came rushing back to me. I got super excited, but it was too late the DVD was out of print by then and going for an amount I would not shell out. I thought I would never see this movie. For the next few years I read about it online and in books, and heard a lot of bad things about including some nasty comments from Barker himself and tried to convince myself it wasn't a big loss not seeing it considering all the reviews. Well... last night I had my cherry popped. And I must say that most of the reviews I'd read over the past few years where dead wrong. I fucking loved this flick!!Cheesy...yes, but it was wicked fun. And call me stupid, but an Irish trailer park? I always equated trailer trash with the shitty country I live in. The United States. The kid even had a fucking mullet. I almost lost it. Anyway, sorry that the story about not seeing it is longer than my thoughts on the film, but all i can say about it is that it was a blast. review from PumpkinGetsASnake

   It’s an exciting time in Wisconsin and the annual Muskie Madness festival is in full swing. But someone wants to catch something besides fish, a vicious killer is hooking unsuspecting fishermen and dragging them to their death in the local lake. And of course there are a group of unsuspecting teenagers on vacation looking for a good time. They provide a perfect assortment of victims for the angry angler. There are a lot of campy characters like the weird locals and the stereotypical unstable Vietnam vet who was a staple character in a lot of movies back then. Inspirations can be seen in this film from Jaws, Friday the 13^th, Rambo, Meatballs and a host of other pop culture films of the day.

  The horror-comedy “slasher” film Blood Hook was directed by Jim Mallon who went on to produce the cult TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000. In addition Kevin Murphy AKA Tom Servo of Mystery Science was also in the film crew of Blood Hook as the key grip. I am a huge fan of Mystery Science and have watched my VHS copies of the shows until most of them are worn out. Still I had never known Jim and Kevin were involved in Blood Hook until I was researching the movie for this review, and I’ve probably watched Blood Hook half a dozen times.

Blood Hooks Victims Discovered

The 80s was a special era in film making and some of those films had a special cheesy goodness that can never be recreated in today’s films. Blood Hook is one of those films, and for me it brings back memories of staying up past my bed time to watch the late night movie on the local UHF channel. It’s not realistic, scary, thought provoking and not really that funny, but I always enjoy watching it. The cheese holds it all together!

A more than slightly dysfunctional family goes for a cruise in the Caribbean in The Bermuda Triangle area. But what could possibly go wrong, especially with Miguel Ángel Fuentes aka Pumaman's trusty and somewhat murderous sidekick. But even the muscle from the Mayans....or was it Aztecs,...can't save this ill fated made for TV cruise. 

   Luckily Mike Nelson and friends are along with you on The Black Whale III to provide the funny comments and obscure references MST 3k fans will love. I have seen just about every episode of MST but this was my first Rifftrax and I was impressed, the guys prove they still have it!

The Gate (1987)

Three young children accidentally release a horde of nasty, pint-sized demons from a hole in a suburban backyard. What follows is a classic battle between good and evil as the three kids struggle to overcome a nightmarish hell that is literally taking over the Earth.This was Stephen Dorff's debut film role. This Canadian horror film owes a big debt to POLTERGEIST (1982) in terms of "suburbia gone wild" style but it manages to hold its own with an interesting story and excellent f/x work. Another must see for any 80s Horror Fan!

Clownhouse (1989)

 "No man can hide from his fears; as they are a part of him, they will always know where he is hiding."
     A day at the fair turns into a night of terror for three young brothers. The youngest ones nightmares become a reality when three escaped mental patients/convicts decide to have a night of fun filled murder.
   Usually when I find a movie from this era I don't remember having seen it until 3 minutes into the flick. This however was completely unknown and unseen for me until last night. There were quite a few killer clown/carnival movies that I have seen and I think this is one of the better ones. Thanks to a friend for turning me onto this lost classic that I had somehow missed all these years.
BTW when the clowns are in the tent removing their makeup I swear that is a Barack Obama mask on the wall behind them, I had just had to pause it! Also check out the cool 80's movie posters on the kids bedroom walls.
